I’m confused about using the EAD. Someone please clarify me….
I already received the EAD for me and my wife. Currently, I’m in the H1b which is expiring on Sep 2008 (6 years are over). My questions are?
•Can I be in H1b and still work another job as a part-time?
------ if the part time job is using a part time H1 only then you will be H1 and dependents in H4 using EAD meaning you lose H1/4
•If my wife wants to work using her EAD does it have any effect on her h4 status?
--- her status becomes AOS pending and H4 is gone
•If my wife loose her job during the use of her EAD what will be her status?
--- she will reamain AOS pending same as while using EAD
•I applied my I485 in July 2, 2007. As I already received my EAD, can I be unemployed after 180 days and start a business by myself?
---- you can be self-employed and have similar job description and LC
•I know after receiving the AP I visit any their country. What will be my status after I come back? Still H1b or anything else?

I had the same issue. Because in my passport surname was missing ( not missing but it was added at the end of my first name) that triggered an FNU in H1 visa.
But in my h1 petition it came out ok. and in I-94 i wrote my name correctly. so that was not an issue. and DL and SSN it came out OK based on I-94.
i corrected it in my passport first. then during H1 visa renewal it got corrected automatically.
even though you have FNU in visa, mention your name correctly in your I-94. otherwise every official document(SSN, DL etc.,) will have FNU as your first name. My friend suffered a lot
because of this issue and he had to go back to india and come back with right I-94 and corrected the rest of the documents later.

By courtesy copy do you mean the original I-797C?
I am also in the same situation. I didn't get the copy and lawyer got copy today only. Appt date is this Sat.
Lawyer has emailed me the scanned copy. Can I take this copy for FP ?

AR-11 is filed manually and mailed. Everyone will use 41 cents stamp.. No way to track it if its really done or not.. Its in your interest only if you've pending applciation where you expect any replies to your address...

I think you can apply for I-140 with a copy. As far as I know, you cannot use premium processing though.

Can anybody recommend a good attorney in the DC metro area, I am trying to start the GC process and as I understand the LC (EB3 ROW) portion is very important and challenging currently.
I've heard of Murthy Law Firm and some other big name (in DC).
I've also looked at Ryan & Taylor based in Reisterstown, MD (same as Murthy).

Is there premium processing for I-765 which is t get EAD through marriage.

I have received FP notices both for my wife and myself for both 485 & 765. Code 3 ,2 . The question is :I dont know how FP process works. My wife has very smooth and sweaty hands. When i applied for Canadian immigration during FBI FP process even after n no. of attempts we couldnt get good prints on FP Sheet using INK. Ofcourse through speaking with Canadian Consulate they gave her an exemption over this. Now many of my friends have informed me that FP process is Electronic is this true?
I think she has no problem with electronic FP as US consulate could take her FP's when initially she went for H4 in i ndia. please comment.

You are spot on. I did spoke to some folks and every body said the same thing, you cannot bring the kid in this country unless the priority date becomes current. That could be long time the way things are moving....
Hence we are stuck almost same situation as you guys are....

I recently applied and got my schengen visa. My case was pretty similar to yours. You should be able to use your AP document to apply for visa. They will also request you to show your travel itinerary. I do not see any problems if your return date on the travel itinerary is before your AP expiry date.

485/EAD: cannot file due to retrogression
I have a permanent employment offer from the employer where I am contracting, right now for the same job. Following are the questions I have:
1. Can I change my employer?
2. Can I retain my Priority date?
3. If the new employer files for transfer of H1, what does it mean to my extension beyond 7th year?
Please help.

U need to start the GC process all over again, unless ur current employer is willing to support you in filing the I-485 without revoking the I-140
